Ten miles west of Newton on Highway 50 is the community of Halstead. A visit to Halstead is like stepping back in time to the Victorian era but with the modern amenities of today. Drive down Halstead’s brick Main Street and you will see a lively downtown with retail shops, a restaurant, a grocery store and other service businesses. Off the main thoroughfare, Halstead has many other features not typical within a community of just over 2,000.
